In this 3-day workshop, participants will explore the process of creating concept-driven art with Marie Mitchell, CASM Artist-in- Residence for a public exhibition at MEZ Artspace MANPAC.

Artists are often at the forefront of social change. Marie Mitchell artist, conservation advocate, educator will guide participants in developing their ideas into a personal story which will then be interpreted visually as an artwork for exhibition. Participants will be led through the creative process from designing the work to collecting natural materials and found objects to incorporate into a series of monoprints on a variety of fabrics and papers. Discussion of art & design elements and principles will be woven throughout practical hands-on designing and making activities.

Completed works will be exhibited in the MEZ Artspace at MANPAC in an exclusive exhibition later in 2022. Dates to be confirmed.

This workshop is designed to support and encourage critical thinking and problem solving skills in creative youth aged 13  to 21 years with an active interest in environmental issues and/or climate change.

Marie has a current WA Working with Children and Police check.

Day 3:  Participants will be assisted in selecting & assembling prints to create a personally meaningful composition. Marie will assist participants to create an artist statement and discuss pricing artwork.
